Susannah Baker-Smith

Susannah is a Psychotherapist and Counsellor holding membership with the UKCP, BACP and SEA

From Susannah:

Life is often challenging and we can feel alone with feelings of loss, fear, uncertainty, and trauma. These feelings can be difficult to express, even to those to whom we are closest. Psychotherapy can offer a safe, non-judgemental place to talk, and to feel heard.  My practice is grounded in the belief that we discover ourselves in relation to others. I aim for a collaborative experience and my style is relaxed and conversational. Together we will work towards greater awareness and understanding of the issues which you choose to bring, explore the possibility of reframing the past, recognise strengths and resources, and contemplate new choices.

I have travelled widely, lived in different communities, and worked creatively which is reflected in the openness and flexibility I bring to the work.

I trained with a specialist cancer and palliative care unit within the NHS, as well as with bereavement services. I offer a warm and supportive environment where feelings of grief and loss may be given space.

An ethical framework is of utmost important to me and my work, in which respect for my clients and their confidentiality is key.

We can work short or long term, according to your needs, and we will regularly check in to ensure these needs are being met.
