Hannah Simons
Hannah is an an HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist and a trained artist offering one to one and group art therapy to people of all ages.
From Hannah:
Art therapy provides a safe, creative space to connect with yourself, to share and work through distressing and confusing thoughts and feelings and to explore new possibilities.
I am psychodynamically trained, my approach is client led, integrating person-centred, relational, neuro-affirmative approaches, adapting to the specific needs of each person.
Working with vulnerability (both as a therapist and as a person in therapy) has heightened my sensitivity to the importance of equality in therapist/patient relationships. I feel strongly about patient autonomy and working to framework whereby a person's needs are defined and addressed collaboratively. I endeavor to meet clients where they are at, without judgement or expectation, and to become attuned to their experience.
Outside of private practice, I work with children and adolescents in special education and in mainstream schools. I also work with charities and collaborate with artists on community projects.
I endeavor to provide containment with gentleness. I aim to facilitate and enable creative exploration as a way to communicate and work through personal difficulties.
My strengths as an art therapist are emotional attunement, open-mindedness, honesty and compassion.
I am HCPC registered and a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists.
